A patent showcasing a bendable display technology has appeared some time ago

Rumors about Samsung working on a foldable tablet have appeared a while ago in the press and a couple of renders showed us what such a device might look like.

To put more straws on the fire, Sammy was said to have showed off a bendable smartphone at CES 2014 during an intimate event, attended only by VIPs and partners.

So what might be the next logical step for Samsung? To showcase a bendable table at MWC 2014 in Barcelona, of course. And that’s exactly what the latest information coming out of Asia (via ETNews) claims will happen in Spain, next week.

Sadly, the event will once again take place behind closed doors. Nevertheless, I’m able to provide you with a few details. For example, the tablet is supposed to be capable to fold up to 90 degrees, meaning it can be used as laptop or a smartphone (we had a render showing that). One half of the slate will act as the screen, while the other will display an on-screen keyboard.

Granted, the news is pretty exciting but don’t fret about it just yet. Even if Sammy shows such a tablet technology at MWC 2014, it will still be a while before the product makes it onto the consumer market.
