14 DAY TRIAL // Since we took the time to check out Acer's high-end 1,920 x 1,200 tablet, we couldn't just leave its sibling hanging, so we snapped photos of the Acer Iconia Tab A510 as well.
This item may not have the same resolution as the Iconia Tab A700 (we have a gallery of it posted here), but it makes up for it through sheer resilience.
It doesn't hurt that its audio specs and most other components are basically the same as on the more expensive model.
We've known of this product's impending arrival for a while now, since it even passed through the FCC not long ago.
Its starting price will be of 399 EUR, which translates into $525 (Wi-Fi version).
Acer will have a bunch of accessories for sale as well, plus two color options: silver and black.
That said, the slate relies on NVIDIA's Tegra 3 SoC (system-on-chip), whose four ARM cores work at 1.3 GHz.
Of course, saying it is a quad-core might not be perfectly-accurate: Tegra 3 has been branded 4-PLUS-1, since it has a fifth, extra core that handles everything and lets the main chip stay idle, as long as the processing workload is beneath a certain threshold.
With this to ensure energy-efficiency, and the display not eating too much energy either, Acer's device claims to be able to last for up to 15 hours of video playback.
The Wi-Fi will probably have to be turned off for this limit to be approached, but it is not like the wireless connection is necessary in such scenarios.
Moving on, the tablet boasts a microSD card slot, microUSB, 16 to 64 GB of built-in storage and 1 GB of RAM (random access memory), plus two cameras (5MP on the back, HD on the front).
Finally, the upcoming product runs the Android 4.0 operating system, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich.
