The slate runs Android 4.2.2 out of the box, but an update might arrive at some point

From the series of atypical partnerships, MTV India has teamed up with Swipe Telecom and together the two companies will be releasing a new Android tablet on the market.

The slate is called the MTV Slash 4X and will become available through the Swipe Telecom website and ebay.in with the promotional price of Rs 8,999 / €108 / $145 (via AndroidOS).

Now let’s see what you can expect from the MTV slate. The new product will come sporting an IPS 7-inch display based on One-Glass-Solution (OGS) technology with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and draw power from a 1.3GHz quad-core processor complete with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage (expandable to 32GB via the microSD card).

The slate bundles dual-cameras (2MP on the back and 0.3 frontal cameras), 3G, dual-SIM (thus voice-calling capabilities) and FM Radio. The slate is powered by a 3000 mAh which means customers will be able to get quite an amount of time with their slate before they have to recharge.

Speaking at the launch, Swipe Telecom CEO, Shripal Gandhi explained how “the MTV Slash 4K was the next logical step after the brilliant performance of MTV Slash.”

“Our successful partnership with MTV that has helped us cater to the youth audience gives us the confidence that MTV Slash 4X will find many takers. We, at Swipe Telecom , are really excited about our latest innovative offering in the market.”

As you might expect, the tablet also comes pre-loaded with a host of applications curtsey of MTV to make user experience more engaging.

For example, the “Count your drinks” app keeps a tab on every drink you consume while out and how much money each friend at the table owes. Customers will also get others like MTV India, MTV Funny or MTV Hottie.
