Rapper turned actor Ice Cube has landed himself in the crossfire after a series of comments he made moments after he walked out of the MTV Movie Awards 2014, which took place on Sunday at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. Said comments were about the late actor Paul Walker of the “Fast & Furious” fame.

Walker, who died last November in a fiery car crash, and co-star Vin Diesel won Best Onscreen Duo at the awards gala, after the fans’ votes were counted. Ice Cube believes he and Kevin Hart should have taken home the golden popcorn trophy and that they were “robbed” because Walker just happens to be dead.

“We was robbed. Shame on you MTV,” Ice Cube told USA Today right after the gala. He was so furious at what happened that, he tells the publication, he didn’t even wait for the awards show to end, so he just got up and left. He spent the rest of the evening watching the game on his couch – a much better alternative than being at the awards.

Asked to detail on how he was robbed, Ice Cube says that Walker only won because of the “sympathy” vote he got from fans. Had this been a fair voting process, no one could have denied him and Hart the trophy for “Ride Along.”

“We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated, for us not to win was crazy. We were the best onscreen duo, period,” the rapper says. “They should have gave it to him before he passed away,” he adds of Walker.

While chances of USA Today twisting Ice Cube’s words or taking his comments out of context are slim to none, the rapper has taken to his Twitter page to say that he didn’t really mean to say the super offensive things he seems to be saying.

“I wasn't really mad we didn't win. So I would never diss the actors who won. Not even Paul Walker. Seriously people!,” he writes. “The sympathy vote: We should honor people before they die. That's all. Shame on you ‘make something out of nothing’ [expletive] reporters. Smh.”

He also claims to have left the gala not because he was miffed but because he had learned, just then, that his category would not be televised, so he saw no purpose to hang around. Ice Cube urges Paul Walker fans to just give it a rest because he too was a fan, so he definitely didn’t mean any disrespect to him.
