Fans know that Christian Bale has some anger management issues, but they might be ignorant of the fact that he's also very emotional. Last night at the MTV Movie Awards 2012, the actor got all choked up when images of his late co-star Heath Ledger played on screen.

As we also informed you earlier, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were at the awards show to introduce director Chris Nolan who, in his turn, introduced fresh footage from the upcoming “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Since this is the final installment in the trilogy, they first reminded fans how the new Batman story started by means of a collage from the previous two films.

Video of their speech is below – unfortunately, we do not have footage of the actual moment in which Bale got choked up, but MTV can confirm it happened.

“At the clip's conclusion, Christian Bale, flanked by his co-stars Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, stepped up to the mic and said, 'Wow, great to remember Heath at that moment. Wonderful to see Heath Ledger there',” MTV writes.

“The Oscar-winning actor then lowered his head and appeared to get choked up as the audience applauded for Ledger, who died in January 2008 at age 28 from an acute intoxication from the combined effects of several prescription medications,” says the same media outlet.

“The Dark Knight” came out after Heath's death and went on to write history at the box office, while also earning very warm praises from fans. It also won Heath a posthumous Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.

“After stepping back from the mic for a moment of silence, the actor wiped his nose and soldiered on. 'The final chapter of 'The Dark Knight' has been written,' he continued, before deferring to Gordon-Levitt, who brought Nolan onstage to introduce the exclusive new peek at 'The Dark Knight Rises',” MTV further writes.

Christian Bale reprises his role as The Bat in “The Dark Knight Rises,” as also do Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman.

New additions include Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard.
