14 DAY TRIAL // Last night, at Universal Studios’ Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif., this year’s edition of MTV Movie Awards took place. As is the case with every other (more or less) fancy gala, the red carpet ceremony was a big part of the festivities – and none of the ladies in attendance wanted to disappoint. As JustJared can confirm, the word of the day was shimmer.
Ladies clearly preferred shiny and silky fabrics, with lots of rhinestones or extravagant hair and makeup, thus keeping up with the tone of the ceremony itself. Whereas singer Katy Perry, for instance, opted for a mini dress with a blue wig, other stars chose outfits less out of the ordinary, though by no means “regular.” There was nothing regular about Lindsay Lohan’s jumpsuit, for example.
Of course, since she’s been ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring device on her ankle (or SCRAM bracelet) as part of a lawsuit regarding the violation of her parole, Lindsay also had to think practicality and not just fashion. So, she went for a jumpsuit with incredible long and wide legs, and a décolletage that almost went down to her navel – and that’s not even only a figure of speech. She matched the outfit with lots of bracelets and her newly blonde locks, making for a very retro, disco-inspired appearance on the red carpet.
The always-gorgeous Eva Mendes also went for shimmering fabric in a short, off the shoulder imprinted creation that made the best of her toned figure and stunning legs. She accessorized with jewelry from House of Lavande, and clutch and shoes by Roger Vivier. Scarlett Johansson was the only one to go for a more classic elegant look, though she too cut a dashing appearance on the red carpet. The “Iron Man 2” star teamed her green lace cocktail dress with black satin pumps by Dolce & Gabbana, while rocking her best bedroom hair.
Christina Aguilera’s outfit was completely over the top, just like her performance from later that night, about which we also told you earlier today. Before taking to the stage to perform a medley of songs off her “Bionic” album, XTina rocked the red carpet in a very short Versace Atelier stunning creation, with chain and feathery patterns, accessorized with Stephen Webster jewels and dramatic makeup.
