Even though Micro-Star International (MSI) is supposedly aiming for the top position as all-in-one PC supplier, this tendency doesn't seem to have put a dent into its focus on all other markets. Not long ago, the company released a gaming notebook with DirectX 11 capabilities. With the high-performance, gaming sector thus covered, it has now turned to the market for decent laptops meant for use on the go. The PC supplier has just released the P600, a device described as "the businessmen’s personal assistant providing the power, security, and convenience he needs."

Based on the Intel Calpella platform, the business laptop uses the HM55 chipset and is powered by an Intel Core i5 central processing unit. The specifications include the Intel GMA HD integrated graphics, up to 4GB of DDR3, a 15.6-inch HD glare-type screen (with a maximum resolution of 1,366 x 768 pixels) and a 2.5-inch HDD with up to 500GB storage. These components are complemented by a two-in-one card reader, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/draft N WiFi, Bluetooth V2.1, two USB 2.0 ports, an eSATA connector, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and a couple of speakers.

"MSI Marketing Director Sam Chern explains that the P600, MSI's newest business laptop, was meticulously crafted by the same design team that won Germany’s iF Product Design Award for 2010. Attractive, light, and long on battery life, it comes with Intel's highly powerful Core i5 processor. What’s more, the P600 has a biometric fingerprint reader to provide the strictest security possible for the on-the-go businessperson," the press release reveals.

In order to enhance productivity, the laptop features a Chiclet keyboard, a multi-gesture touchpad, a Fingerprint reader than provides security and the Eco Engine power Saving technology. This delivers five self-explanatory modes (Video Game, Film, Presentation, Word Processing, and Turbo Battery) that automatically adjust screen brightness and processor performance in order to more efficiently manage power.

The MSI P600 should become available in the next few weeks and will run the Microsoft Windows 7 OS. Prices, unfortunately, have not been disclosed.
