Using multiple graphics cards on the same PC configuration has not been a dream since NVIDIA and ATI introduced their respective multi-GPU technologies, SLI and CrossFire. Still, what has not, until now, been possible is the combination of multiple graphics adapters, regardless of model and manufacturer. Lucid set the stage for such configurations when it developed the Hydra 200 SoC and MSI has finally created a motherboard with this functionality. Known as the Big Bang Fuzion, the mainboard has finally become available.

The MSI Big Bang Fuzion was officially introduced about a month ago, after the hardware maker had delayed it for several months. The card is based on the P55 chipset and supports LGA 1156 processors.

The board makes use of four DDR3-2133 memory slots, boasts V-check points, Active Phase Switching (APS), as well as ten SATA 3.0 Gbps and two eSATA ports for storage capabilities. In addition, the product uses only Hi-c Caps, Super Ferite Capacitors (SFCs), DrMos (8-phase power for the central processor) and also boasts the OC genie technology. This last function allows for overclocking through the simple press of a button.

The Fuzion is designed with three PCI Express slots for graphics. This means that end-users will be able to combine the might of three graphics cards, regardless of whether they are made by NVIDIA or ATI. This true multi-GPU technology is what makes the Big Bang Fuzion unique, and the possibility to overclock the entire system through the OC Genie paves the way for an even higher performance. Other specs of the motherboard include dual Gigabit Ethernet and FireWire connectors.

The MSI Big Bang Fuzion motherboard will be bundled with a QuantumWave PCIe x1 sound card, with support for ADVANCED HD 5.0 and EAX. MSI will also include the OC Dashboard, for direct monitoring and overclocking. As already mentioned, the board is already available and has a price of $369.99.
