MSI has decided to step forward with its latest high-end motherboard lineup and has unveiled its P45 series motherboards. The Intel P45 Express-based mobos will provide a number of innovative features, as well as some of MSI's already known technologies. Featuring the server-class "DrMOS" technology, the recently released products are said to deliver high efficiency, zero noise and high performance based on the P45 chipset.

The new lineup comes in five flavors, namely P45 Diamond, P45D3 Platinum, P45 Platinum, P45 Neo3, and P45 Neo. All of the above mentioned products are designed to provide gaming enthusiasts with the necessary power required by the latest games and high-end multimedia applications.

One of the latest technologies that MSI has integrated into its most recent lineup is DrMOS, which basically provides all the required tools to make the boards more energy efficient. The technology is actually similar to ASUS' EPA and Gigabyte's DES, which has also been the reason for a recent quarrel between the two Taiwanese companies. DrMOS comes with several features meant to improve energy-saving function of the boards: GreenPower for conserving energy, XpressCool for zero noise and effective heat dissipation, and RapidBoost for high computing performance.

"The P45 mainboard has surpassed various aspects of the board's overall functioning and performance. Equipped with DrMOS, consumers will enjoy a rich computing experience and advance super energy-efficient technology that benefit users and the environment," said Vincent Lai, MSI global marketing director.

The new product lineup brings into the spotlight, once again, the Circu-Pipe Liquid and Circu-Pipe2 Cooling Solution, which MSI boards have benefited from in the past as well. These technologies are meant to improve the boards' cooling factor and to make them a reliable platform for overclocking-capable desktop systems. According to MSI-made tests, the Circu-Pipe solution was capable of keeping the north bridge temperature at 36 degrees.

The boards are designed to support the latest high-end Intel Core 2 Extreme quad-core processors, providing a standard FSB speed of 1333MHz. The FSB is capable of achieving a maximum overclocked speed of 2008MHz. The Diamond and Platinum editions will provide two PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots, as well as a considerable number of connectivity features.

The P45 Diamond and P45D3 Platinum models are the only ones that will provide users with DDR3 support. There is no official word yet on pricing details, but those interested in the specs of the boards can find them displayed on the manufacturer's website.
