Custom GF100 cards made official

NVIDIA always makes a point of not revealing the specifications of its upcoming products until the very last minute, which means that its manufacturing partners also have to keep a leash on when talking about or demonstrating a future device. This is why Micro-Star International could not reveal much about the Twin Frozr II Fermi cards it had on show at Computex. Granted, said models weren't exactly ready to start shipping either. This has now changed, as is evident from the hardware maker's most recent announcement.

MSI brought to light the existence of the N470GTX Twin Frozr II, N465GTX Twin Frozr II and N465GTX Twin Frozr II Golden Edition. Part of their specifications is identical to those of NVIDIA's stock models. Nevertheless, their maker took some liberties with the overall build, especially in regards to the cooling mechanism.

Obviously, the Twin Frozr II cooler is made use of. This solution features two 80mm fans, five heatpipes and can drive operational temperatures lower by 16 degrees Celsius, compared to the original video controllers. Sound output is also driven downwards, by 21.5dB. The Golden Edition is thus called because of the color its cooler's all-copper construction gives it.

All these benefits come as a bonus to the high stability and reliability conferred by the company's now infamous Military Class components.

The GTX 465 custom solutions each have 352 CUDA cores, 1GB of GDDR5 VRAM and a memory interface of 256 bits. Additionally, the GPU, shader and memory clocks are of 607, 1215 and 3206 MHz, respectively. As for the N470GTX, it comes with 448 cores, 1280MB of GDDR5 and a 320-bit interface. Frequencies reach 607/1215/3348 MHz.

Considering how the GTX 465 itself is already available and its successor, the GTX 460, has even been pictured, it can be assumed that MSI's new offspring will reach stores soon, though the exact date is still unknown. Prices have not yet been mentioned.
