Micro Star International has introduced today its first micro ATX motherboard based on Intel's G45 chipset that comes to provide users with the company's DrMOS technology. According to the company, this technology is ideal for processor power supply application, providing three major features, including GreenPower for highest efficiency, RapidBoost for best performance, and XpressCool for zero noise. The new G45M Digital from MSI is said to provide the best energy-saving solution for multimedia entertainment applications.

The new motherboard from MSI has been specifically built to provide support for Home Theater PCs, as well as for some of the latest Intel processors and PCI Express graphics cards. Thanks to its G45 chipset from Intel, the new mobo can be used to build a system based on one of Intel's Extreme, Quad or Duo series processors, as it comes with support for socket 775 CPUs. The board can be featured with a maximum of 16GB of DDR2 800 memory, for the best possible performance.

The board also comes with a PCI Express X16 graphics slot, which can be used to hook up one of the latest graphics cards on the market to provide support for HD Video. Also, thanks to the Intel G45 chipset, users can also take advantage of the built-in graphics support, delivered by the X4500H video core. This features support for DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0 applications, and enables the board's HDMI, DVI and D-Sub video output.

So far, the Taiwanese mobo maker hasn't specified any details regarding pricing and availability for the board, but chances are it will be released shortly. As for the price tag, we still have to wait for the manufacturer to make an official statement in this sense.

Despite the fact that Intel has now upped the ante with the release of the new X58 chipset, the 4-series chipset family is expected to lead the mainstream market next year.
