Released just a short time ago, the ultimate graphics card, created by the world-renowned graphics card and motherboard manufacturer MSI, practically became the new representative of the concept of high-end graphics itself. The adapter combines two advanced 40nm GPUs with 3,200 stream processors (SPs), and a 2 GB 512 bit GDDR5 graphics memory.

Each GPU has 1,600 stream processors, the single card with dual GPUs has 3,200 SPs altogether, whereas the available memory and bandwidth is divided as 2 × 1GB and 2 × 256bit for a total of 2GB at 512bit. These specs top those of other video cards and will provide gamers with a never-before-seen level of immersion, not only through its ability to render any kind of HD, high-resolution images, but also through being able to support not one, but up to three monitors at a resolution of 2560 × 1600 per monitor.

This is achieved through the incorporated ATI Eyefinity triple-display output technology, represented by two DVI ports and a Mini DisplayPort. This feature not only gives gamers more to enjoy, but it also improves multitasking for professionals. In addition, the card offers the PowerPlay power-saving functionality that shows remarkable power-saving when the machine is in stand-by.

What is especially exciting about this wonder of graphics is MSI's own "Afterburner" overclocking software that allows the user to adjust both the voltage and overclocking settings for a better performance. With CrossFire X enabled, the dual GPUs redefine the concept of fast rendering, all the while maintaining stability.

The video board supports the latest DirectX 11/Shader 5.0 and OpenGL 3.2 graphical standards. When compared with the R5800 series, players can take advantage of the more powerful specifications to better experience the DirectX 11 games under the latest Windows 7 OS. This new card, aside from supporting next-generation games and movie-playback accelerations, can also assist the CPU in running everyday applications via the OpenCL support.

The power consumption was also taken into account. MSI's R5970-P2D2G graphics card supports the ATI PowerPlay power management functionality, providing the possibility to balance performance and power consumption. What this feature does is adjust the level of power delivered to the board according to the load to which the card is being subjected.

Finally, to improve the card's stability, MSI's R5970-P2D2G implemented Hi-C Cap, solid-state capacitors and SSC (Solid State Choke), which prevents noise when running at high load. With these ultra high-grade components, the R5970-P2D2G can enjoy a long and happy product life.
