Taiwanese motherboard and graphics card maker MSI has just announced that one of its high-end graphics cards, the GeForce GTX 260-based N260GTX Lighting, has been pushed to an incredible clock speed of 1.1GHz. This only proves that MSI's commitment in trying to provide its customers with the best-in-class components does pay off, allowing computer and overclocking enthusiasts to further boost their components' performance and break benchmark records.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260-based N260GTX Lighting has been specifically designed for overclocking enthusiasts, featuring military class components, 10 phase PWMs and an AirForce Panel. This allows overclocking enthusiasts to further boost the GPU core speed of the card, enabling higher benchmark results and increased performance in demanding applications. On that note, overclocking enthusiast hipro5 from Greece has recently been toying with said card, pushing its limits to an impressive 1.1GHz and enabling an Aquamark3 score of 392,063.

Based on one of NVIDIA's first GeForce GT200 graphics cards, the GTX 260 Lighting edition from MSI comes featured with military class solid capacitors, which are said to provide 2.5x longer lifespan, high durability Hi-C Cap that can withstand 20% higher temperature, a necessary feature in the overclocking world, 10 phase PWM design and the AirForce overclocking Panel, available only for the N260GTX Lightning Black Edition.

As far as technical specifications are concerned, this card can provide users with 1792MB of GDDR3 448-bits memory, while the default clock speeds for the card's GPU and memory have been set to 655MHz and 2000MHz, respectively. Aside from that, the Lighting edition from MSI also boasts a high-performance, dual-slot, dual-fan cooling solution, featuring the Twin Frozr cooler.

The impressive overclocking has been set by hipro5, an enthusiast from Greece who has combined MSI's card with Intel's latest Core i7 Extreme 975 desktop processor to establish the registered record.
