Remember that last week at CeBIT, I brought you word of an interesting new gaming laptop showcased by MSI, called the GS60 Ghost. Now the producing company has officially lifted the veil off it, showing the notebook to us in its full splendor.

The GS60 Ghost is so light and thin that it can be thought of as an Ultrabook, no jabbing involved. But the machine’s most important drawing points is probably the 2880 x 1620 pixel resolution (3K) mounted on a 15.6-inch screen. MSI offers a full HD (1920 x 1080) option too, in case your needs don’t take you that far.

As we told you back then, the GS60 Ghost runs on NVIDIA’s latest GPU architecture, an aspect that has now been detailed, giving you a choice between the high-end GeForce GTX 870M and GTX 860M. Furthermore, MSI has slipped an Intel Core i7-4700HQ processor under the hood, combined with up to 16GB of RAM.

As previously stated, the machine could qualify as a gaming Ultrabook because it weighs only 1.99 kg / 4.4 pounds and is just 19.5 mm / 0.7 inches. Compare that to Samsung’s latest ATIV Book 9 Style Ultrabook (that was uncovered at the same event) that weighs 1.95 / 4.3 pounds.

Other noticeable highlights include 802.11ac, Wi-Fi, Blu-ray writer, SteelSeries gaming keyboard and the XSplit Gamecaster feat for recording and streaming gameplay.

The 3K model has been said to drop around April and will sell for a hefty $2,000 / €1,440.
