Not long ago, Advanced Micro Devices unleashed its mobile platform, finally offering an alternative to Intel's CPUs when it came to laptops, and MSI decided it was time to unveil a new AMD-based laptop, so it put together the FX610, a 15.6-inch notebook featuring the GPU Boost technology.

Unlike other mobile PCs unveiled recently, this system does not go out of its way to provide high-end gaming capabilities, focusing on multimedia instead.

At its heart lies an AMD Phenom II triple-core central processing unit, a member of the company's latest Vision Ultimate platform.

This CPU is backed up by DDR3-1333 memory and paired with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 discrete graphics card.

The HD 5470 is not nearly as powerful as the higher-end models in the HD 5000 series, but still carries 1GB of memory and enough horsepower to make short work of any video.

Also, to optimize battery life, Micro-Star International threw in the GPU Boost technology, which switches between the integrated graphics and the discrete solution.

Furthermore, the notebook boasts 15.6-inch TFT LCD (liquid crystal display), as well as a HDMI output, which will allow videos to be streamed to larger monitors.

Other specifications of the device include a 5-in-1 card reader, Bluetooth 2.1, a HD webcam, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, LAN, THX TruStudio Pro surround sound, a pair of theater class speakers and a raised, multipoint touchpad.

Finally, a hard disk drive provides 500GB, 640GB or 720GB of internal storage, allowing a large number of videos and music files to be stored on the mobile computer.

As for special features, the ECO Engine power saving technology is present, as is the Cinema Pro, which boosts performance by tweaking the display at the touch of a button.

Unfortunately, even though it went into details regarding the specifications, the PC supplier did not mention the price of this product.
