MSI, one of the world's leading vendors of hardware components, has recently announced the expansion of its line of portable computer systems with the introduction of the new CR610 laptop, designed to take advantage of AMD's new Tigris platform. As expected, the machine will be made available with the much-anticipated Windows 7 OS and will likely become a choice for users looking for a multimedia-ready portable computer system.

According to the specification sheet of the new laptop, users will be able to enjoy a high-quality visual experience on the 16-inch 1366 x 768 HD display, powered by the system's built-in ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 graphics processor. The CR610 is built on the ATI RS880M chipset and can support AMD’s Athlon II dual-core processors. Furthermore, it can also support a maximum of 4GB of DDR2 memory.

In addition to all of the aforementioned specifications, the new MSI multimedia laptop has also been featured with a 1.3MP webcam, a 4-in-1 webcam, two stereo speakers, Gigabit LAN with wireless 802.11 b/g/n connectivity and optional Bluetooth. There's also an ExpressCard slot, 3 USB 2.0 ports, eSATA and HDMI and the usual Mic-in and Headphone out connectors. That's pretty much what you'd expect from a laptop that is powered by Microsoft's Windows 7 operating system, as far as connectivity options go.

The CR610 also features a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive, which can provide users with a maximum storage capacity of 500GB, although configuration options also include a 250GB and a 320GB hard drives. Moreover, customers will also make use of the system's DVD Super-Multi optical drive and the 6-cell battery pack.

MSI's new multimedia laptop measures 374x 247 x 18-30mm and weighs 2.48kg with the 6-cell battery. Unfortunately, the company hasn't detailed the system's pricing and availability.
