All optics are handcrafted by Sadayasu Miyazaki and are limited in number

Fans of the super expensive and elitist Leica brand, are probably familiar with the MS Optical name, which is a Japanese custom maker of camera lenses.

Now the company has created a hand-made ultra-thin 24mm f/4 Perar compact lens to be used in concert with Leica M-mount cameras. The master craftsman behind this beauty is Sadayasu Miyazaki and he has been basing the design of the Perar on a three-lens model called a “triplet.”

The technique has allowed Miyazaki to create an insanely thin lens that weighs only 43 g / 0.09 lbs, which can be comparable with a standard M-mount body cap. The Perar includes a 10-blade aperture and full rangefinder coupling for focusing.

The lens is bundled with multi-coated elements which are also hand crafted by Miyazaki. MS Optical claims the 24mm lens will bring about vivid color rendering and contrast.

Since it takes Miyazaki some time to complete these pancake lenses, their numbers are going to be quite limited, but albeit being priced quite high ($629 / €461), they tend to sell out quite fast.

We should also note the Perar aren't restricted to the Leica cameras but you can mount them up a Sony A7.

The official distributor for MS Optical lens is Japan Exposure, so if you fancy one of this uber thin lenses, take a look and see if you can find one in stock.
