They look and sound ridiculous

It's been less than 24 hours since I ranted against the iPodization of everything around us and as I turned on my computer this morning, the same crap came over me. Yesterday, it was the ridiculous pimp-looking iPod purse day, today is the pimp-looking MP3 shoes day; yep, MP3 shoes, exactly.

Coming from a rather known footwear producer (Dada), the Dada Supreme "musical" shoes almost ruin everything the company has achieved so far. And don't get me wrong, it's not the shoes themselves but the crappy look they get from the speakers attached to them and the varnishes some models come in.

Classic white or black basketball shoes, even natural leather colored shoes, they look pretty OK; but the platinum shoes do not, believe me! They look crappy and pimpy in the worst meaning of the words and adding the "silveresque" speakers does little help.

I guess that beyond the "fashion creative", Dada rather wanted a piece of the consumer electronics market and this is why they went for the musical shoes. Let's face it, the sound coming from two moving s**tty and small speakers placed on your feet can't be properly named sound, but rather some noise containing fragments of music.

The next solution was some wireless headset receiving data from the MP3 player placed in the inner sole. Anyway, the musical shoes have only a 128 MB memory and a full battery charge is said to last somewhere around 6 hours so nothing in excellence on this side.

Now, it seems to me that these shoes have been designed just to have something designed this way; they do not offer the extreme quality of Asics nor the design of a cool basketball shoes from Nike or Reebok and I simply am 110% sure that the MP3 player won't even reach a quarter of the overall features of an iPod or Iriver or anything similar.

And if you're willing to spend $199.99 on all of the above and look like a pimp while some crappy noises come out of your feet...go get 'em!
