Smooth and shiny clamshell

It appears like with each new image, Motorola's U9 handset looks even better than before. At this rate, once it actually gets released, people might expect to be once again pleasantly surprised by its appearance, as this device has ceased to be regarded as a performer and more as a looker.

MOTOROKR U9 follows the same smooth and stylish line of the existing PEBL line of handsets, but adds a considerable amount of style and impressive simplicity. The rounded shapes of this device certainly make it greatly resemble a pebble, but its 87 grams in weight take away that impression. Moreover, the handset comes in some compact sizes of 90 x 48.6 x 16.4 mm that make it comfortably appealing.

The 2 megapixel camera that MOTOROKR U9 comes equipped with provides images at an average quality. The fact that it is not capable of professional performances is of little importance, as this is actually a music phone. Because of this, it is expected to come packed with a huge memory in order to guarantee that it is capable of storing a number of songs which makes it ready to compete with a regular MP3 player. Some leaked specifications show that it will have 25MB of internal memory and also support for a microSD card to complete with some extra space.

The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack for connecting to the user's headsets. It also has a QVGA screen capable of supporting a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels, a pretty high one for a clamshell phone. There are high chances that MOTOROKR U9 will come with no 3G support, although it will be capable of providing GPRS and EDGE connectivity.

The specification list is quite scanty for this handset. Unfortunately, the release date for this device is still unknown and the same goes for its price.
