HTC, INQ and Vodafone already launched their Facebook-centric phones a while back, but for unknown reasons they weren't that successful among users.

According to the folks over at MobileSyrup, Motorola is preparing to launch its own “Facebook phone,” the MOTOKEY SOCIAL at TELUS.

However, unlike other Facebook-oriented handsets, the MOTOKEY SOCIAL is not a smartphone, but a basic mobile phone that comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and a dedicated Facebook button.

MOTOKEY SOCIAL is quite appealing with a square-shaped form factor and its generous and comfortable QWERTY keyboard.

The dedicated Facebook button works just like the HTC Status' button, which means users can access their accounts, share pictures and links, and stay in touch with their friends with the push of a button.

The handset comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen with 262k colors support and 320 x 240 pixels resolution.

On the inside, the phone packs 64 MB of RAM and 128MB of ROM (50 MB user available), as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

MOTOKEY SOCIAL is stylish and slender (105.5 x 60 x 9.98mm) and weighs only 87g (battery included).

It comes with GSM 850/900/1800/1900, and WCDMA 850/1900 network support and features GPRS / EDGE class 10.

According to Motorola, the phone also provides Wi-Fi 802.11b/g connectivity, along with microUSB 2.0 High Speed and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR support.

On the back, the handset features a mediocre 3-megapixel camera with digital zoom, fixed focus and video recording capabilities (no flash included).

The MOTOKEY SOCIAL is powered by a 910 mAh Li-Ion battery that is rated by the manufacturer for up to 8 hours of continuous usage or up to 28 days of standby time.

No word on the phone's release date or pricing options yet, but TELUS should make the official announcement by the end of the month.
