Mobile phone maker Motorola announced not too long ago that it had a new device on its way to China, namely the MOTO XT800. The handset, which emerged into the wild before in a series of leaked photos, comes with Android 2.0 on board, sports a 480 x 854 pixel (FWVGA) capacitive touchscreen display, and has been developed to work on China Telecom's airwaves, as a recent post on Motorola's Developer website notes.

The new MOTO XT800 comes as a Touch tablet, sports a virtual keyboard and support for full-screen handwriting, as well as a large 3.7-inch touchscreen display with support for 16M colors. At the same time, the phone also comes with a 5-megapixel photo snapper with auto focus, dual LED flash, and 720p HD video recording capabilities. At the same time, the handset also features great multimedia capabilities, including audio and video players, and streaming functionality, with support for AAC, AAC+, AMR-NB, H.263, H.264, and MPEG-4 file formats.

The processor that powers the new MOTO XT800 is a TI OMAP3430 that runs at 550 MHz, which is coupled with 256 MB of RAM and 512 MB of ROM. A microSDHC memory card slot is also included in the package, with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage, and users will be able to enjoy an accelerometer, proximity and ambient light sensors with the new Android phone, as well as a built-in GPS receiver.

When it comes to the connectivity options the new device sports, we can count dual mode GSM 850/900/1800/1900 / CDMA 800/1900 capabilities, along with EVDO Rev. A, GPRS, and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g features. Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and Micro USB connector are present on the handset as well, along with a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The MOTO XT800 by Motorola also comes with SMS and MMS capabilities, as well as with email support (Exchange ActiveSync 2007, IMAP4, POP3), and, of course, with the Android WebKit browser for Internet navigation.
