Tired of games that have constantly repeated storyline, endless foes to kill for God knows what reason and short campaigns that make you wonder why the heck you even bought the game in the first place? If so, how about switching to a game inspired by history and mythology, modern conspiracy theories and ancient mysteries, keeping you stuck to the screen forever? Oh yeah, I've got your attention now.

Coming from the creators of "Age of Conan," "The Longest Journey" and "Dreamfall," is the modern day, Earth set game called "The Secret World," currently in development at Funcom's Oslo and Beijing studios.

Here's what Ragnar T?rnquist, the producer and director on The Secret World, said: "We started envisioning this contemporary online world more than ten years ago, and as the years passed the ideas grew and improved. We always wanted a different kind of online world, something scary and contemporary, something deeper and closer to our reality. Our goal now is to create a detailed world where players feel empowered and part of something big, something mystical and epic."

Now that's what I'm talking about! I've always wanted to hear stuff like this. However, the game will have to sport the most amazing graphics if this is the impact they expect. Or maybe it's not graphics that eventually does the trick in a game like this, but gameplay. Long hours of gameplay...:

"We believe there are millions of gamers out there who want to explore something beyond traditional fantasy and sci-fi games," said Trond Arne Aas, CEO of Funcom. "The Secret World is just that - a fantastic new setting that will fuel the imagination of online gamers, and keep players busy for years. We have a golden opportunity to bring something fresh and exciting to the genre, and we firmly believe the game is an ideal extension of Funcom's MMO portfolio."

Although no release date has been made available so far, developers say it is already playable, so expect something soon.
