He heads a dance site now

I guess we'll be hearing less of "Stop! Hammertime!" from Stanley Burrell (that's his real name? big jump from Stan to MC Hammer, wouldn't you agree?) and more of "Cut! No, you put your left foot in, you put your left foot out, you shake it all about! Yes, and only then you do the Hokey Pokey, what's so difficult to understand?"

Yes, that means that he'll be doing a lot of directing from now on, a work that he doesn't necessarily have to do as co-founder and chief strategy officer of DanceJam.com. He does it anyway, it must have stuck to him as a habit after going round the country and taping people dance, according to the Associated Press. Inspired by the popularity of reality television shows like "Dancing with the Stars", Hammer (I guess we can still call him that and drop the MC, it's not like it's the expression of nobility like "sir" would be - Sir Hammer - that's weird) decided that the startup will be able to dethrone YouTube on the market of sharing and watching dance videos. You know what? Given enough media, it might just will, because it fills in a niche and that might just give it the upper hand.

The site is also said to feature web-based dance competitions, where contestants submit videos that will later on be judged by viewers online. I wonder whether some might cheat with their videos and work on them via their computer to make them look more agile or running up a wall. Pardon me if I don't picture the site run by Hammer as showcasing classical dance videos. It might, I'm just not seeing it.

This comes well in with the reputation Stanley Burrell has for using innovative technological methods to advance his career. I'm just sad that the Hammer is no longer recording. Those were the days.
