14 DAY TRIAL // A new unofficially announced Samsung handset has appeared on the Web, coming a few days after the dust and splash resistant B2700 model. The new phone is named Samsung M5310 and, as the aforementioned one, it comes in a candybar form factor. The M5310, however, is more advanced, and it seems to be a music-oriented handset.
According to the Czech website Mobil.iDNES, the M5310 is the first Samsung handset to come with the shake control feature (already packed in lots of Sony Ericsson phones - the W980 clamshell, for example). Thanks to this, users will be able to control several of the phone's functions just by shaking it or moving their hand in front of it.
The new Samsung looks quite nice, as it's dressed in a rounded metallic case with chromed margins. Also, the phone measures 109 x 46 x 9.9 millimeters, hence it's among the slimmest candybars ever.
The known features of M5310 include: a 2 inch TFT display with 262K colors and a 240 x 320 pixel resolution, a 2 Megapixel camera with video recording (and probably flash too), Bluetooth 2.0, Music player with dedicated external keys, FM radio with RDS, USB 2.0 and quad-band GSM connectivity with GPRS and EDGE - 3G seems to be missing. The phone has only 20MB of internal memory, but there's also a slot for microSD and microSDHC cards, hence the storage space can be expanded with up to several extra GB. Samsung M5310 is said to hit the European market in August for a retail price of around 220 Euros ($335). No word about a North American release, but since the phone is quad-band GSM, it might make it to the US and Canada too, sometime later this year.
