It looks like that leak has only preceded it by a short while

The photo of the Lumix DMC-GF6, which was leaked yesterday (April 8, 2013), might have fooled people into thinking the new photo and video capture device would be nothing special.

Needless to say, that was a wrong conclusion, as the device most definitely has its assets, not the least of which is the flip screen.

Indeed, the display where the preview (1040k-dot screen) is shown can be titled and flipped at 180 degrees, allowing self-portraits to be done easily.

No longer will owners need to stretch and stay still, only to have to delete their shot and turn the camera towards them again, hoping that this time, maybe, the photo would come out alright.

The WiFi support is another advantage, though this has stopped being a novelty after the Samsung Galaxy Camera opened the floodgates for all the others.

The same can be said about the included app, which needs to be installed on smartphones/tablets and, among other things, can send/receive photos and control the camera from afar.

Then, there is the NFC support (near field communications) and the 1080/60i full-HD AVCHD video support to consider.

Furthermore, Panasonic implemented a new Venus Engine image processor, plus an ISO range of 25600.

The rest of the specs fit the idea of a £449 camera ($685 / 525 Euro). Panasonic didn't actually release a price, but that is the best guess so far (with included 14-42mm kit lens).

That is to say, the photo and video capture device possesses built-in flash, 3.7 fps burst shooting, low-light autofocus and a 0.5-second start-up time, and JPEG and RAW shooting, plus a new mode dial and a case colored black, white, red or brown.

Finally, editing the photos/video is possible in Self Shot, Creative Panorama and Stop Motion Animation. And with the popular Creative Control mode, a total of 19 filter effects are made available to the owner.
