Starting today, owners of Nokia Lumia 1320 smartphones around the world can download and install the Lumia Cyan with Windows Phone 8.1 platform upgrade, it seems.

The new software update, made available a couple of weeks ago for Lumia 625 and Lumia 925 devices, is slowly making its way to more Nokia devices, and the latest to have received it is the Lumia 1320.

Following user reports that the update has started to arrive on their Lumia 1320 smartphones in the UK, India, and the Philippines, the official Lumia Cyan update tracker has been brought up to speed to show the software as available in even more markets out there.

Thus, Lumia 1320 users in Italy can also download the OS refresh now, regardless of whether their smartphones are unlocked or are on the networks of wireless carriers TIM or Vodafone.

As nokiapoweruser notes, however, owners of Lumia 1320 smartphones in North America might have to wait a bit longer for the update to arrive.

The same happened with the software for Lumia 625, Lumia 925, and Lumia 1520 devices too, and it does not come as a surprise that carriers on this continent haven’t stated rolling it out as of now.

Over the past few days, however, Microsoft appears to have started accelerating the firmware's deployment, which suggests that more Nokia Lumia devices will start receiving it very soon.

The update is being pushed out over the air, and users will receive a notification as soon as it has been released for their devices. The rollout is performed in stages, and not all users will receive it right away.

Nokia Lumia phones will automatically check to see whether the software has arrived, but you can perform this action manually as well, from Settings > Phone Update > Check.

A special warning goes to those of you who have installed the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview on their devices, as they will need to roll back to a commercially released platform version before receiving the Lumia Cyan upgrade.

As a refresher, the new software iteration arrives on devices both with the Windows Phone 8.1 OS version and with a series of features and enhancements specifically designed for Nokia Lumia phones.

Following the update, users will enjoy improvements such as Action Center, Cortana (in the United States), Start Screen backgrounds, Word Flow, Internet Explorer 11, and more, all arriving as part of Windows Phone 8.1.

Moreover, it brings along new versions of applications such as Nokia Camera, Storyteller and more, Device Hub, and various other performance enhancements and improvements aimed at Lumia phones.
