The handset would not transmit data, despite its being connected to the network

Recently, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia started to deliver a new software update for the owners of a Nokia Lumia 920 smartphone out there, namely firmware 1308, which was set to resolve a series of issues on devices, but which appears to have actually caused other problems to users.

The update landed on AT&T’s flavor of the mobile phone in late March and is currently being delivered to the Lumia 920 devices globally, yet it seems that users might want to wait a bit before jumping on it and upgrading their devices.

According to a recent post on WPCentral, the update does deliver to its promise, offering advanced Storage Tools, improved sensors, better camera features and the like, but also causes some problems on Lumia 920, specifically related to its connectivity capabilities.

Apparently, although the device shows that it has managed to successfully connect to the carrier’s network, it doesn’t receive data, or receives it only at very slow speeds. Sending data shows a similar issue, apparently.

One of the workarounds would be the toggle of the Airplane mode on and off on the Windows Phone 8 device, though the issue is bound to re-emerge, the news site reports.

Despite the fact that many users have already reported similar issues with their devices, it’s yet unclear how wide the problem is spread.

Most of the reports on these issues appear to come from users on AT&T’s network, but chances are that people in other markets around the world are also affected by them.

Apparently, Nokia is already aware of the situation, at least in the United States, and might be working on finding the root of the problem and delivering a fix for it soon, yet no official word on this has been provided as of now.

However, more details might emerge in the not too distant future, so keep an eye on this space to learn the news.
