Microsoft has just announced that its budget-friendly Lumia 635 smartphone has been awarded “Best Value Phone” prize at the Mobile Industry Awards 2015.

The Lumia 635 was launched exactly one year ago, in June 2014. The smartphone proved to be among the most popular Windows Phone handsets launched by Microsoft, along with the Lumia 535.

That's one of the advantages of being a budget-friendly smartphone, and Microsoft took the opportunity and made the Lumia 635 available in many countries all over the globe.

The award presented by Mobile Industry Awards 2015 recognizes Microsoft's expertise in the smartphone business. Even though Windows Phone has a very low market share, Microsoft's Lumia handsets seem to be very popular among consumers.

“The Lumia 635 wowed the judges with the level of specifications and features that the user got for the price point. Services such as mapping, which are often premium in other brands, came as part of the package with the 635. All of which had led to some impressive sales figures,” said Mobile Today.

Excellent specs / price ratio

It's also worth mentioning that Lumia 635 was up against fierce competition, not only from the Motorola Moto G 4G (2nd Gen) and Sony Xperia M2, but also the Lumia 530, EE Kestral and Acer Liquid E3.

So, Microsoft had two budget-friendly smartphones in the competition, the Lumia 635 and Lumia 530, but it looks like the former wowed the judges with “the level of specifications and features that the user got for the price point.”

Microsoft Lumia 635 sports a 4.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.

The smartphone is equipped with 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, an Adreno 305 graphics processing unit, 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.
