There are a lot of gadgets that are pretty useless but whose presence or building routine means a lot of fun and it looks like this is exactly the way this industry thrives; office guys tend to spend some bucks on dumb gadgetry just for the fun of it, letting aside any true functionality for those toys.[admark=1]

Well, if a silly robot that can do some stupid tricks on your desk might be funny, it's not the case with audio gadgets...because one of the most important things about audio is making things heard in conditions as good as possible. If this fails to be one of the center-ideas behind some audio toy, there are immense chances that it remains to the dumb-level.

This is exactly what has happened with the Xenics Music Cube M speakers. The first time I saw them they looked quite attractive with their bright coloring: the perfect loudspeakers for your sober tabletop. Much to my dismay I had soon learned that all the bright coloring and the very cool design was nothing but some thick paper/cardboard you had to fold up in the shape of some cubic loudspeakers.

I stopped wondering, had a cup of coffee and said something like "damn, dude! That's indeed silly!". I mean, the whole planet knows that loudspeaker enclosures must be as vibration-resistant as possible as they have to face resonance and all the crappy things which usually go with loudspeakers, generally. Well, it seems like the designer of the Xenics Music Cube M couldn't care less about these issues and everything went on just like that.

Now, the purpose of the Xenics Music Cube M speakers is rather uncertain, let alone the performance specs. These paper-cabinet speakers are simply to be connected to your MP3 player and that's it: no amping and nothing else. Even more, I have serious doubts that these speakers are anything better than a payphone as far as sound quality is concerned.

Fortunately, they still sell in Korea only and in my humble opinion, buying them equals the worst-spent 10,000 Korean yens ever. Go buy me some European beer instead, please!

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
