After seeing a leaked video yesterday with gameplay footage from Lost Planet 3's multiplayer mode, Capcom has now posted some official details about the different online experiences in the new shooter.

Capcom's Lost Planet series has had moderate success but the company is still quite confident in the third-person shooter series and tasked developer Spark Unlimited with creating a new installment, in the form of Lost Planet 3.

The new title is a prequel in terms of story, as it will show a new version of the world of EDN III before the events from the first two games.

After hearing a few details about the single-player campaign, Capcom has now shared the very first info on the different multiplayer modes included in Lost Planet 3.

According to the company's Unity blog, Lost Planet 3 has four different online modes that will take place on six maps based on environments from EDN III.

As of right now, however, the company has only revealed two of the multiplayer experiences – Scenario and Akrid Survival.

Check out their descriptions below.

"Scenario Mode sets each team with a series of either offensive or defensive challenges and mixes them up with the extreme and unpredictable conditions of E.D.N. III. Players can compete in both third-person on-foot action and in first-person combat using Vital Suits, a futuristic staple of the LP series."

"Akrid Survival sees two teams of three players compete independently of each other in a series of encounters against waves of hostile Akrid before the teams go head to head in a final PvP elimination round."

Besides sharing actual details, the company has also posted a bunch of screenshots from the two multiplayer modes, which you can check out below.

Lost Planet 3 is out on August 27 in North America, and August 30 in Europe, for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
