Loonix Live CD is a bootable CD based on the Gentoo Linux distribution. Loonix runs Linux directly from the CD (or USB) without installing.

Loonix Live CD described here uses as file system, unionfs (Unification File System), which allows a read-only filesystem to behave as a writable one, saving all changes to memory.

Loonix Live CD was created with the help of Tomas Matejicek's Linux-Live scripts. Tomas Matejicek is the father of Slax Live CD, which was presented on our website some weeks ago.

Let's have a look at some software included in this Live CD:

KDE 3.4.1 desktop environment 2.6.11-gentoo-r9 kernel OpenOffice.org Office Suite Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF viewer XMMS multimedia Player Kommander Editor GUI designer Gaim Instant Messenger Mozilla Firefox web browser Mozilla Thunderbird email client KwiFi Manager Wireless LAN Manager and some standard KDE application like: Kwrite, Kate, Konqueror, KPager, Klipper, KdeprintFax, KfontView and more.

Loonix Live CD is a Canadian Linux distribution.
