14 DAY TRIAL // Just the other day, Lourdes, Madonna’s 13-year-old daughter, also known as Lola, who acts as Creative Director on the upcoming Material Girl Collection, officially became a fashion blogger as well. In her first post, Lola talked about fashion and her take on current trends – and there’s no better person to do so, Madonna herself says, as cited by People magazine.
It’s quite some time that the world has started to take notice of Lola and her unique fashion sense, which seems to be the perfect mix of ‘80s and modern, uber-trendy elements. This would also explain why no one actually was excessively surprised when it was announced that she was the one who designed most of the items included in the Material Girl Collection, which will be available on August 3 exclusively at Macy’s. Madonna herself says Lola is more fashion savvy than herself.
“Ask Madonna for fashion advice, and she just might refer you to her 13-year-old, Lourdes Leon (aka ‘Lola’), who, according to her mother, is ‘much more fashion-forward and savvy than I am at this point.’ Now the teenager and fashion-lover is sharing her natural style acumen as a blogger, posting her first musings yesterday on Materialgirlcollection.com, the site for the juniors clothing line that the mother-daughter duo are designing together,” People writes.
Of course, that Lola is very creative and wants to use that to make a name for herself (other than “Madonna’s daughter”) is not a secret, since Madonna said in older interviews that the teen was out to build a career in showbiz. Back then, the singer did not know that it would be fashion that Lola would choose as a launching pad, though chances are high she may have guessed it. In an October interview, for instance, Madonna was saying that Lourdes was her best friend, who would always offer her tips on what to wear and, in return, take over her entire wardrobe and the liberty to borrow whatever she wanted from there.
“She dresses the dancers backstage. She’s really into hair and make-up, so she does a lot of experimenting. She’s very talented. She could absolutely design her own line of clothes, she’s got great style. Everyone asks her what she thinks of their outfit. Her, not me. […] She’s brutally honest, not just with me, but everyone, about what you’re wearing, who you’re dating, the music you listen to, every choice that you make. She wears the same sizes as me now, so she steals my clothes, my shoes, she’s constantly in my closets,” Madonna explained back then, as we also reported.
