I am so happy to announce that we will benefit soon from a piece of Harmony coming directly from Logitech. Yes it is the so rumored Harmony 885 universal remote which has been showcased at the last CeBIT technology fair.

"People buying a high-definition TV today are likely to be frustrated by all the adjustments they have to make every time they simply want to switch from watching a TV program to watching a DVD," said Bryan McLeod, vice president of Logitech's remote control division. "These new home-entertainment devices are complicated, especially for the family. The Harmony 885 remote can take the headaches and confusion away."

And yes it is not a common universal remote, but one which features a large LCD color display, advanced navigation especially for the stressed out complicated new HDTVs and personal video recorders (PVRs) users, as it has the power to be in charge of any given component because of an infrared receiver.

And because I know you hate batteries as much as I do, this stylish remote comes with a recharge capability and lithium ion batteries. So, when you don't use the remote you can just put it its charging platform.

But the cherry on the cake is the embedded Smart State Technology, which enables any Harmony remote control to send all of the appropriate infrared (IR) commands with one touch.

"The color display has eight buttons, four located on the left and right sides, which together serve as a personalized activity control center. During setup, background images can be downloaded to fit personal preference. To optimize visual navigation, on-screen icons and text describe specific activities, such as watching TV or listening to music. The remote is fully backlit so it's easy to navigate in the dark. When their eyes are glued to the television, people can find useful buttons effortlessly, by touch. The primary navigation controls - such as play, pause, record and the number buttons - are easily identified by feel due to their varied size, shape and location," said the company.

The Harmony 885 remote is available now for a suggested retail price of $499.
