Z10 Interactive Speakers is the name of Logitech's latest audio device. The USB speakers developed by Logitech stand away from the crowd especially because of the sleek design. The maximum power is 60W while the continuous power is just 30W. The fact that they use 2 built-in speakers, a tweeter for the high band and a small woofer for the bass helps them reproduce a wide band of frequencies.

Getting to the actual testing part, the sound is a bit flat without "screaming" highs or "earth-shaking" lows but it was quite pleasant. Due to the fact that the tweeter can only cope with high frequencies, the sound seems to lack the power to reproduce 500 - 2000 Hz frequencies but it is not a major drawback. The speakers also come with a 160x43 LCD display mounted on the right one.

That's the same LCD that is mounted on the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard. The little display is quite versatile, giving you "current track information, your latest POP3 emails, the time and date, your current CPU and RAM utilization". An integrated countdown timer and a stopwatch are also available for displaying. And if that still does not satisfy you, there are also a bunch of mods for the G15 LCD available for free downloading on some mod-related websites.

Incidentally, there's also support for portable players (such as Ipods) and I have to say that sounds quite appealing. I'm not to happy with the white of the Ipod being surrounded by Z10's black (probably Zune would look a lot better but I don't think it is supported) but the speakers sound really ok when coupled with a mobile device. $149 on Amazon is quite a lot (about the same as a 200W Z-2300) but think of the stylized look and the touch-sensitive buttons and you'll understand the differences.
