All mice can do the job of moving the pointer across a screen, but only some of them can truly be called fast, and they are the ones usually reserved for hardcore gamers who want every possible edge when it comes to a virtual shootout.

Logitech has just introduced the G402 Hyperion Fury, a peripheral it describes as the “fastest gaming mouse ever made.”

The company says that the newcomer has a speed of over 500 inches per second, or IPS for short, and attributes the performance to the Fusion Engine.

Fusion Engine makes sure that the mouse moves as quickly as even the fastest gamers can (something that many mice can't do).

The proprietary Delta Zero sensor technology is the other half of the equation. It gives you access to four DPI settings, five if you use the Logitech Gaming Software. DPI shifting can be used to go from 240 DPI (good for sniping) to 4,000 DPI (when you need to turn around and run quickly).

Meanwhile, the producer makes sure that the mouse moves as quickly as even the fastest gamers can move, at 1 ms report rate (something that many mice can't do). The low-friction feet help with that, as does the lightweight construction.

Everything is controlled by a 32-bit ARM processor and sells for $59.99 / €44.75. Or will sell starting in a few days (beginning of August, 2014).
