Logitech is alleged to be the world's first company to release a desktop combo with a keyboard and an accompanying mouse. The company has made a name out of its gaming mice and keyboards, but it also kept releasing quality kits aimed at the common user. This time, Logitech surprised the audience with two high-end wireless devices to boost productivity while delivering the 'no cords attached' experience.

The MX 5500 Revolution Keyboard comes with a 7.4 x 2 centimeter LCD display that renders the time and date, as well as other info regarding the currently playing song or e-mail alerts. The F-keys can be used for secondary purposes: they can act like regular F-keys or they can behave like macro-keys (for instance, an F-key can launch Internet Explorer or the favorite media player). The keyboard requires a set of four AA batteries for normal operation,

The accompanying mouse is a refurbished version of the MX Revolution that has been launched back in 2006. It distinguished among the other peripherals of its kind on the market because of its unique and sophisticated design, that provides an ergonomic shape for the right-handed users.

The mouse comes with an intelligent scroll wheel that can switch between the "clicky" and the smooth scrolling mode, depending on the applied force and the application that is currently running. The mouse also features a thumb wheel that lets the user take full advantage of the Vista Flip 3D feature, or of the Windows XP Document Flip.

The wireless kit communicates with the computer via a Bluetooth 2.0 device that can cover a range of 9 meters around the computer. The pairing process has been done during the manufacturing, so setting up the devices is a simple, straightforward procedure.

The wireless combo retails for as much as $169.99, which is quite a price, but I am sure that it is worth every cent. The system is already available through the retailers' network of stores.
