There are only four days left until Logitech finally starts shipping a certain new peripheral intended for the mid-range consumer market.

Obviously, we are referring to the Comfort Keyboard K290, whose name doesn't really suggest mediocrity, no matter what the product is described as.

Truth be told, this isn't a mediocre product. It's more along the lines of a high-quality keyboard with some concessions for pricing.

Thus, the Comfort Keyboard K290 gets a built-in palm rest and low-profile keys, for good comfort, as well as a full-size layout with separate navigation keys and number pad.

Not only that, but the Logitech Comfort Keyboard K290 also has a solid construction (the keyboard is built to last, as it were).

Furthermore, the keys last for 10 million strokes without wearing down beyond usability.

Not only that, but the peripheral is also spill resistant, so it won’t die if you spill your juice or coffee over it while playing.

Considering all this and the price tag, we'd say that, for a keyboard with 108 keys (Windows 8 key included), it is quite advanced.

Speaking of which, the price is of 1,980 Yen, which corresponds to about $19 and €14.44, according to exchange rates.

The things we would have liked to see, but would have increased the price quite palpably, were a more ergonomic key layout and a backlight.

Fortunately, neither of those things is actually required, and regardless of how comfortable a keyboard can be made, eventually wrists and fingers will still start to hurt if you play too long without interruption. Unless you fell asleep first, which is just as well.

The typing noise is of 47.5 dBA for standard keys, 52.5 dBA for the special keys (multimedia keys at the top), and 55 dBA for the space bar.

All in all, it's not bad for a keyboard measuring 459 x 182.6 x 20.4 mm / 19.1 x 7.2 x 0.8 inches.
