The Android 2.3.4 OS upgrade the Sony Ericsson is currently pushing out to its Xperia devices brings along a hefty load of enhancements, including the ability to offer a better viewing experience courtesy of a LiveDock attachable to handsets.

Through the new feature, users can easily transform their Xperia devices in mini PCs, as a series of USB peripherals like mouse, keyboard or gamepad can be added into the mix.

“As we have posted before, with the Gingerbread 2.3.4 update we are rolling out, one of the really cool features that you will have on your Xperia phone is the USB host feature, that turns your Xperia smartphone into a mini-mobile PC,” Sony Ericsson explains a blog post.

As you can see in the video below, the new capability makes it simple to throw in a game controller and play a game on the phone while viewing all on the large screen of a mobile phone at home.

But this is not all, as one would also be able to use the device as a PC through adding a keyboard, a mouse and a large monitor into the mix. All came along with the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS upgrade courtesy of LiveDock for Xperia.

Sony Ericsson notes that all these would be available “by connecting USB peripherals, mouse, keyboard or gamepad, to the Sony Ericsson LiveDock multimedia station and lets you have a greater experience when you connect your Xperia phone to your screen, through HDMI.”

The new LiveDock is available for all Xperia devices that were launched this year, except the Xperia PLAY: Xperia arc, Xperia arc S, Xperia pro, Xperia active, Xperia mini, Xperia mini pro, Xperia ray, Xperia neo, and Xperia neo V.

Moreover, the LiveDock is compatible with the Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman that was launched earlier in summer, the mobile phone maker notes.
