Arrives in autumn

LittleBigPlanet is being billed by Sony as one of the most interesting games set to arrive on the PlayStation 3 gaming console this fall. Even the developers are saying that their primary fuel was "just... ambition... we didn't know we'd succeed" and that they are surprised by the extent to which Sony has promoted their product.

The developers have recently offered a few more tidbits of information regarding their game, talking more about the way players will be able to enjoy the more social aspect of LittleBigPlanet. Some of the potential players were concerned that the game would be policed to such a degree that sharing game levels with possible adult content would be impossible. The developers at Media Molecule are saying that the sharing of levels will be possible because the system is two tiered. On one hand there is a public sharing system, which means uploading a level to a public server and making it available for all the players of the game. On the other hand there is a private sharing tool that allows you to lock the level and make it downloadable only for your friends, so all the slightly naughty levels people are bound to reach will not be banned for being public.

The players will also get a chance to customize their character by way of the PlayStation Eye, one of the most under-used attachments available for the PS3. Taking a picture and attaching it to something in the game is perfect for creating a virtual "you", even if the quality might not be that great.

The team says that the game is pretty much done at this point and that the usual "polish" is being added while the story of the single player experience is being stringed together. Sony is planning to show more of LittleBigPlanet at E3 and the game is set to be available in autumn, although the exact date has not been announced.
