After a pretty unfortunate delay, UK-based developer Media Molecule has finally revealed a concrete release date for its upcoming LittleBigPlanet 2 title, as well as a story trailer and a demo.

LittleBigPlanet 2 is set to augment the features of the original game, and allows its players to create brand new experiences with the tools added in the game.

While the game was set to appear this fall, Media Molecule and Sony, its publisher, released a statement a few months ago saying that LittleBigPlanet 2 was going to be delayed in order to polish up the new features and ensure that all players, with or without permanent Internet connections, will have a great experience.

Now, the wait is finally coming to an end, as Media Molecule confirmed that LBP2 had gone gold, and that it would be released in North America on January 18, Europe on January 19, and the UK on the 21.

In order to celebrate this announcement, the studio has released a single-player demo of the game, as well as a new trailer that showcases the story from the campaign mode of LittleBigPlanet 2.

The demo, out now on the PlayStation Store for free, will allow you to experience all of the new tools that are included in this upgraded edition of the original LittleBigPlanet.

"Here’s your chance to experience a few of the new gameplay additions, like the Grapple Hook and Sackbots, and also meet some of the new characters who will be joining you on your epic Sack-quest," revealed Sony Computer Entertainment America PR Manager, Eric Levine.

Judging by the video below, it seems that Medial Molecule is bent on incorporating a better single-player campaign in the upcoming title.

In case you haven't experienced the first game, its campaign mode served more as a long tutorial section, which drew a fair bit of critique from many people.
