Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president, has just unveiled the third game in the Little Big Planet series during the company's E3 press conference.

As rumors suggested a few months ago, the next installment in the Little Big Planet franchise does not come from Media Molecule developer.

Little Big Planet 3 is developed by Sumo Digital and the game has been confirmed to arrive on PlayStation 4 sometime in November. We expect an exact release date to be announced later on, as we're getting closer to launch.

Along with the announcement of the upcoming game, Sony also released the first gameplay trailer for Little Big Planet 3 and reiterated the importance of some initiatives surrounding this series which were announced last year.

For example, Shuhei Yoshida revealed that since the release of Little Big Planet Hub back in 2013, which encourages players to create stuff for the game, no less than 8.5 million levels for the original Little Big Planet and Little Big Planet 2 have been created by players.

What's more exciting is that all these levels will be playable in Little Big Planet 3, but with enhanced graphics especially created for the PlayStation 4.

Now let's see what the gameplay trailer has revealed for Little Big Planet fans. Well, first of all, there are new characters in the game who will change the way people play the game.

SackBoy's new friends are called OddSock, Swoop and Toggle. You can bound up and over wall as with the quick and agile OddSock, or you can glide through the skies as the majestic Swoop.

Last but not least, players will be able to turn Toggle between Big Toggle, a heavy strongman and Little Toggle, a light speedster who can walk across water.

According to Sony, all new characters are fully customizable, just like Sackboy. Speaking of which, developer Sumo Digital announced the main protagonist of the Little Big Planet series has been improved with new powers like the ability to climb.

During your journey through Imagisphere, you will need the powers of all four of these heroes if you want to explore the virtual world.

More features have been included as well, such as creative layers for adding depth to the game world. New tools and tweaks that allow players to create additional levels will also be included.

Sony promised to share more details on Little Big Planet 3 gaming world in the months to come, and PS Vita owners might also receive a confirmation on whether or not the game will be released on their favorite platform sooner rather than later. Stay tuned.
