More Create and Share

LittleBigPlanet 2 has been confirmed as arriving at some point during the winter of this year, updating the “Play, Create, Share” concept Sony seems to have adapted wholeheartedly after Media Molecule put out the first videogame featuring the adorable SackBoy. And the two companies working on the title are trying to make sure that, this time around, the sharing element of the game is much more prominent.

Sony has said that there are 2.3 million user-created levels made for LittleBigPlanet, which sounds quite impressive when the number is first thrown around. But Sony is also saying there have been about 3 million units sold, which pretty much means one player only created one level at the most, when taking into account those gamers who do not have Internet access.

It's also probably safe to state that quite a big number of those levels had little actual gameplay value and were made to aid in Trophy collections or to facilitate content sharing between players.

It appears LittleBigPlanet 2 has quite a few tricks up its sleeve to spur players into a creation-oriented approach to the game. Each player will have a new activity stream, which constantly updates with everything they do, who they friend on the PlayStation Network, what other content they have liked and what kind of levels they are creating themselves. The developers at Media Molecule are also planning to be very active and point out on their streams the content they see as being the most interesting.

Changes are also coming to the main LittleBigPlanet website, complete with a personal website for all players, mobile apps that are linked to the game and a plug in allowing players to actually queue up in LittleBigPlanet a level they have seen a video of.
