It's been a while since we've last heard word from Lite-On regarding one of their optical disc drives, but it would seem that they're now back with yet another model, the eNAU108 external slim 8X DVD/CD writer, a device designed specifically to be used together with the most portable computing systems available on the market. Weighing only 0.4 pounds, the eNAU108 Ultra Slim 8X DVD/CD Writer can be very easily carried around while the fact that it is completely USB powered makes it even more portable, since users can forget about taking along one of those bulky power adapters.

The device is compatible with and supports all common DVD and CD formats, providing write speeds of up to 8X for DVDs.

Furthermore, Smart-Burn technology is also featured to provide the highest writing quality for every burn, while the built-in Smart-X technology should reduce acoustic noise and vibration, resulting in a seriously enhancedplayback quality.

The eNAU108 is great for backing up important files and stores up to 8.5GB of data on a double layer disc (naturally, single-layer discs are also supported), equivalent to 4 hours of MPEG-2 video, 1,000 songs, or 7,000 photos.

“The eNAU108 is a simple drive, designed to be a go-to writer for any home, office or traveler”, says Christine Hsing, Marketing Manager for PLDS. “

”Its small size makes it discreet, but its functions make it a must-have”, Mrs. Hsing adds.

The eNAU108 is available in two colors, black and white (in order to match the most commonly-encountered case colors as far as notebooks, netbooks or laptops are concerned), and will be available in mid November 2010 with an MSRP of $59.99, which is actually quite OK, given the fact that many users still require optical disc drives such as this one during their normal activity.
