Lite-On seems to want to play on end-users apparent need for variety and customizability now that it has completed tis newest external optical disk drive, one going by the name of eNAU608.

The new disk drive that the company came up with is a slim, external DVD burner that communicates with host PCs via the USB 2.0 connection.

This newcomer can scribe such disks at a speed of 8x, although it does, of course, support CD formats as well.

In fact, the full list of disk types that can be written onto includes DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R9, DVD-RAM, DVD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW, and CD-ROM

Lite-On went even further in its quest to boost the product appeal and, thus. Threw in a couple of special capabilities.

One is the LightScrbe function, which can burn labels on the back of the disk itself, while the other one, LabelTag, can make text labels on the actual burning side of the DVD.

Nevertheless, the true unusual feature of this device is that its front cover can actually be customized with whatever printed images or photos their owner may judge as fitting. This is done by means of interchangeable covers.

“With the eNAU608 we introduce a new concept for external slim DVD burners”, says Jelmer Veldman, Marketing Manager for Lite-On.

“The drive has an interchangeable top cover, to let users insert vibrant designs, use custom photos, and choose a design to express their own style,” Veldman added.

“We bundle a number of pre-printed design templates, but we also include a simple software application for users to create their personal cover design,” the Marketing Manager went on to saying.

This newcomer, known as eNAU608, will soon be released in Europe, with a price of 59 Euro. The SMART Burn technology and the Nero Software suite will be included.
