In October last year, in an interview for his new movie “John Wick,” Keanu Reeves admitted that he was upset that he was no longer offered movie roles in big budget productions because he wasn’t considered leading man material anymore by the big studios.

“John Wick” came out shortly after that, and while not a roaring success, it still made about $78 million (€68.7 million) worldwide and was praised by the critics as one of the best action movies of the year. Then, there was no more doubt: Keanu Reeves was back! He might never be as big as he was back in his “Matrix” days, but he was leading man material once more, he could carry an action film.

Apparently, Lionsgate is convinced that he can carry an entire franchise as well: Variety confirms that “John Wick” is getting a sequel. The announcement came from Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer, who even hinted that they were thinking at more than two installments.

So if the sequel fares well, he will reprise the role for the third and fourth time, and for as long as the audience keeps asking to see more of him.

The CEO didn’t offer more details, not even to confirm Reeves would be back, but it’s safe to assume they wouldn’t even consider doing it without him. The tricky part now is finding a reason for Wick to kick butt again, now that he’s gotten even with the people who killed the puppy he got from his late wife.
