14 DAY TRIAL // Metro News reported on this happy ending of a scene that seems taken right out of the Jungle Book. A lioness prayed on an antelope, but was moved by a defenseless calf, as it approached her for milk, and adopted it. The footage was taken in Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park, as photographer Adri De Visser was observing lions feeding.
“I was told there were two lionesses close by feeding on a kill so I went to go take some wildlife pictures. […] I was watching them when I heard a noise - it was the kob's fawn that had been hiding in the long grass. […] One of the lionesses heard it too and came down from the tree. The fawn just stood there before running into the lioness. It went between its legs like it was trying to get its milk,” De Visser describes.
As stories go, lion meets baby antelope, lion kills baby antelope's mother, lion starts to feel sorry for calf and adopts it, and they all live happily ever after as one big, happy, mixed, dysfunctional family.
