The final release of Linux Mint 5.0, was announced earlier today by Clement Lefebvre and the Linux Mint Team. Dubbed Elyssa, this version is based on Daryna (Linux Mint 4.0) and is compatible with Ubuntu 8.04 and its repositories. It is the first Linux distribution that brings Firefox 3.0 RC1, Gnome-Do, Adobe's Flash Player 10 Beta and many other popular applications!

Highlights of Linux Mint 5:

Linux Mint 5 Light Edition was also released today. It was created for those of you who don't want proprietary software, patented technologies and support for restricted formats. Moreover, the following components are not present in Linux Mint: Abobe Flash Player, Encrypted DVDs support, Windows codecs, Sun Java, Unrar and other restricted multimedia formats.
