Celena Light!

The Linux Mint team has released yesterday a light edition of their successful Linux operating system, Linux Mint 3.1 (codename Celena). This Light Edition was created especially for the users that live in countries where the legislation allows software patents to be enforced, and doesn't contain:

■ proprietary software ■ patented technologies ■ support for restricted formats

In other words, in this Light Edition of Linux Mint 3.1 (Celena), you will not find proprietary software such as:

■ Macromedia Flash ■ Support for encrypted DVDs ■ Windows codecs ■ Support for restricted multimedia formats ■ Unrar ■ Sun Java (replaced by GIJ)

However, the Light Edition includes all the other technologies from Celena such as: mintAssistant and mintUpload. However, you can use the Linux Mint Software Portal if you want to add codecs and multimedia support with a few mouse clicks, in your Linux Mint 3.1 Light Edition.
