The holiday season is here and for some of you, there's still enough time to search for more gifts that are to put a smile on the face of the ones close to you. Now, if you are looking for something that can go well with that ultraportable notebook you recently bought, then you might want to take a look at one of the more recent products that Linksys has announced. Boasting support for the new wireless-N specification, the WAP610-N access point promises to enable SOHO users to stream HD video over wireless, with a high-quality reception and a minimal interface, thanks to its dual frequency mode.

“Consumers are often confused about wireless connectivity, both the options available and the possibilities a wireless network enables. The new Linksys by Cisco WAP610N gives consumers everything they need to create a high speed wireless network. Addressing the rise in entertainment devices connected to home networks, the WAP610N offers optimized HD Video streaming, as well as an upgrade to your network, all encompassed in to a sleek, stylish design, which wouldn’t look out of place in your home,” said Jens Hofmeister, director Product Management for Cisco Consumer Products.

As you can expect from a router in its category, the WAP610N will enable users to take advantage of the specifications and performance of the new 802.11n standard, with increased speed, enhanced range and support for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels. In addition, the router's interface has been designed to enable an easier configuration for users of both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. With all the security issues today, you'll likely benefit from the integrated Wi-Fi Protected Setup as well, which allows users to push a button on the Access Point to enable an automatic, secure wireless connection with another device.

Featuring a sleek design, that will likely fit most homes or office spaces, the WAP610N is available now in UK for a price tag of £89, while users in the United States will likely get it for about US$100.
