Lindsay Lohan is a good actress, movie critics often say, but her biggest misfortune to date is that she’s letting her public persona, her party-girl image in particular, do away with the best career options that might come her way. Marking a new phase in her life, as well as to show her commitment to breaking free of said party-girl image, Lindsay Lohan has decided to travel to India to help children, PageSix reports.

She won’t be taking on this noble enterprise all on her own, though, sources close to the star reveal for the publication. Lindsay will travel to India as part of a BBC investigation that will expose in an upcoming documentary the terrible reality of human trafficking, as well as the poor conditions in which some children live. It is not yet known whether Lohan’s involvement with the cause will also extend to a financial one as well.

“Lindsay Lohan is ditching all the drama of her on/off fling with Samantha Ronson and her love/hate relationship with dad Michael and flying off to India to work with children. Sources tell PageSix that Lohan is heading to the subcontinent today to film a documentary with the BBC about impoverished kids. An insider said, ‘She is excited about escaping the drama of LA and doing something real’.” PageSix writes.

These past few months have seen Lohan doing her best to redeem herself in the eyes of the media and make a name for herself as a responsible, committed businesswoman. Recently, the actress was named creative advisor with the prestigious fashion house Ungaro and she admittedly gave it her best to make the first collection she worked on a major success. Sadly, the line was considered an epic failure, for which reason reports say her days with Ungaro are numbered.

“Asim [Abdullah, Chairman at Ungaro] wants her out now. Department stores in the States have already told him they won’t be picking up the line if Lohan remains a collaborator, so it’s a serious issue. [But] Mounir [Moufarrige, CEO] wants to keep her on because it was his idea to hire her in the first place. He’s trying to save face. The terms of Lohan’s multiyear contract were not disclosed, though it is said to be worth seven figures.” sources were telling the media a while back, as we also reported.

So, should her collaboration with the fashion house come to a premature end, at least Lindsay Lohan will have her charitable efforts to focus on, although confirmation and more details on this BBC documentary are pending.
